For the patients, and maybe the dentists: Patient Confidentiality Are you aware a typical email can be read/stored on 10-20 internet computers before arriving at your PC? Our office uses email extensively, however, we encrypt email sent to other local specialists. What does this mean? We can send or receive referral letters, pictures, xrays, etc and only my office, and the specialist can decode the email. We looked at several commercial encryption programs before settling on Verisign. This program runs a whopping $15.00 per YEAR, and works invisibly with most email programs (we use Outlook). Currently, the Oral Surgeons, periodontist (gum doctor), and endodontists (root canal), and several general dentists in the Illinois Valley all use Verisign for encryption. I am not aware of any other group of specialists in the WORLD which work to ensure your privacy. |
